Fine Art - Conditional Reporting

Art & Specie

In the world of fine art, collection managers or conservators must carry out a process called conditional reporting. This involves inspection of a written and/or electronically filed record that details the condition of a painting and its frame before and after it is to be moved or displayed at gallery events. There needs to be a documented chain of custody when art & specie are traveling to validate authenticity and uphold condition. The objective is to develop an automated replacement to this process, backed by blockchain technology and digital twins of physical items, potentially reducing the time to obtain and complete a condition report.

RiskStream is working with an award winning startup that provides access to the most advanced computer vision software to verify identity and protect people and products in a digital world. The startup’s solution provides an immutable link between physical art and its digital representation. Current methods are susceptible to manipulation and fraud. The startup can provide access to their SDK allowing anyone to authenticate art based on its microstructure and link it to a digital record or NFT on a blockchain. This solution cannot be breached or tampered with.

RiskStream is currently engaging with interested parties involved in the consortium and exploring discussions with art galleries/auctions and is aiming to kick off a working group in early 2024.
